Prairie du Chien is a city in Crawford County, Wisconsin, United States, and the county seat. It is located just above the confluence of the Mississippi River and the Wisconsin River, and is the oldest European settlement on the Upper Mississippi River. So let’s take a look at the best Prairie Du Chien restaurants.
Spring Lake Inn
During a day trip to Prairie du Chien wisconsin, we stopped here for lunch based on the reviews found on this site. It was a great experience- fast, friendly service, excellent food, and a great patio! All of us ate the fried cod with american fries and coleslaw, which I highly recommend. We also had some of the best cheese curds we have ever had-which seemed appropriate as we were in Wisconsin:)
This is our second time coming here as a couple for the prime rib dinner on Saturday night. It was not as busy as my last visit, likely because of Covid. I would have preferred that the servers and staff wore face masks. Although I understand their county has low COVID rates, many of the guests who come to eat are visitors from other areas, so taking this extra measure makes perfect sense. The relish tray was not provided as last time, but it may have been an oversight. Great prices on their drinks and the prime rib was delicious! It is well worth the trip, and they have outdoor seating if you prefer
The Depot Bar
During our vacation, we were looking for a restaurant along the Mississippi River. Very interesting intimate interior with history and a view of the Mississippi from the bar or the patio. There are very few choices on the menu, but they are well prepared. As an appetizer, we enjoyed catfish cheeks. Only one waitress/chef, but she did a very good job and was very attentive to all her customers. It is highly recommended.
After stopping in for a quarter of a football game, I stayed for almost the entire event. There were two ladies working there at the time, and they were quite friendly, stopping by to chat a couple of times each, while still providing excellent service. We enjoyed the catfish cheeks and cheese curds appetizers, the cheeseburger was excellent, and the blue gill plate was wonderful. I look forward to returning.
Prairie Du Chien Country Club
In Prairie Du Chien, WI, the 18-hole Prairie du Chien Country Club was designed by Gilmore & Graves in 1993 after first opening in 1958. From the longest tees, Prairie du Chien Country Club measures 6197 yards (par 72) with a slope rating of 122 and a 70.6. In Prairie du Chien, WI, at 38485 US Highway 18, you will find the Prairie du Chien Country Club. A full service bar and grill are available at the Prairie du Chien Country Club.
The food and service were excellent. We are open every day for lunch. Great specials on Thursday nights and fantastic fish frys on Friday nights!
Jones’ Black Angus
In Prairie Du Chien, we were looking for a great restaurant to eat at. Jones Black Angus was ranked number one on Tripadvisor. Fast food and Chinese food were ranked second and third, respectively. I wasn’t sure what to expect at the #1 choice 😉 Fortunately, we found incredibly friendly owners, great old fashioneds (I’d never seen such a size before), and the most delicious seafood and dessert. Coastal seafood is my favorite, and this was that and more (South African lobster, delicious). Also, our service was excellent. In addition to visiting the area, we will drive 3 hours to enjoy it again. They are lovely people.
Four of us went. We ordered three different types of steaks and sea scallops. All were delicious and cooked to perfection. Steve, the owner, helped me select a bottle of Cabernet. The cocktails were delicious as well. Her attentiveness and sense of humor made our visit enjoyable. Supper Club of quality. Half a dozen times I’ve dined here and it’s always good! Keep up the good work. Thanks for staying open during these trying times!
Fort Mulligan’s Grillpub
We have been stopping here for years whenever we visit, and the food is always excellent. Ella served us this time, and she was excellent! She is such a lovely young woman. This is a great place to eat!
As a family of five, we were seated without difficulty. These Irish Nachos are delicious! We enjoyed all of our sandwiches and the service was excellent.. It is located within walking distance of our hotel, so we cannot wait to return there.
The Barn Restaurant
The Barn was a positive experience from beginning to end. The restaurant is easy to find, the ambiance is unique and charming, the food is delicious, the service is excellent (thanks Jacinta and Darien), it is reasonably priced, and it is one of the few places that still has a salad bar. We do not often venture to this part of Wisconsin, but when we do, the Barn is our restaurant of choice.
This was our first visit to The Barn. During the early evening of Wednesday, about 5:00, we stopped at the bar for a cocktail. It is beautifully decorated with old farm equipment. There are some really cool old hanging kerosene lanterns that have been converted to electric. There were so many interesting things to look at and a very pleasant atmosphere. Sam, our bartender, did an excellent job of serving us and making good drinks.
This was one of the best meals we had during our recent vacation. It has a nice atmosphere, good service, good food, reasonable prices, easy access, and a gift shop; what else can you ask for? The following morning, we enjoyed breakfast as well as supper. Chicken and chicken fried steak are both excellent choices.
When we were in the area, we heard great things about Huckleberry’s, so we decided to stop in. We were so glad we took the opportunity. The service and food were excellent. We also enjoyed browsing the little gift shop. If you are in the area, I recommend you eat here.
Pete’s Hamburger Stand
if you’re looking for a restaurants in prairie du chien wi maybe this little hamburger truck has been operating for decades, across from Starks Liquor Store, which is also a well-known landmark. Even though their menu is limited to their famous “water burger”, you will find out why there are usually lines waiting to order it. It is possible to order a burger “with” or “without” referring to grilled onions. During the warmer months, it is only open, so everyone looks forward to it!
Rowdy’s D&D Bar and Grill
Clean, bright, and welcoming! Lunch can be enjoyed here with the family. The restaurant specializes in BBQ pork prepared in a pit that resembles an old steam engine. The staff is always friendly, and the BBQ pork keeps us coming back. There is nothing fancy here, just good old fashion value.
Sandwiches are available here. Cooking at home is good. A friendly environment. Is a typical bar in your hometown. We met a few local residents here and were able to learn about the history of Prairie du Chien.
Frazier’s Old Faithful Inn
Through this wonderful restaurant, I was able to experience the uniqueness of Prairie du Chien. It is unique and a must-see. The back bar is outstanding. The pizza is delicious and very reasonably priced. It is difficult to pinpoint its location, but it is close to Villa Louis.
We discovered Frazier’s Old Faithful Inn a few years ago while walking from our hotel to downtown Prairie du Chien. The restaurant was a great find when we were in town over Memorial Day Weekend and did not disappoint this time as well. Keith, the owner, immediately serves cold beer and shares friendly conversation with you, ensuring you feel at home. As a cozy establishment in which to enjoy a refreshing beverage, we cannot recommend this place highly enough.
From the outside it may not seem like much, but inside you are in for a pleasant surprise! He is a pure Chinese cook who cooks like a true chef. The food was prepared fresh and served promptly. Our waitress was friendly and efficient in completing our order. So far, it is the best Chinese food I have experienced outside of Milwaukee.
Hungry House Restaurant
Have been here before for breakfast last December and it was very excellent. Having dinner tonight along with the catfish was delicious. I overheard my waitress say she loves her job. I think I found my calling” and it revealed. Got numerous coffee refills without requesting and she had been back a few days to inquire what my meal was.
Will definitely return again when in the area.Met a friend for breakfast which is a meal that’s really hard to screw up. However, this place offered cheese and onions over the hashbrowns and also their toast appears to be of higher quality than you frequently see. The service was great and we sat and talked for one hour with no stress to leave. I would certainly return.
