10 TOP Things To do in Khorfakkan, UAE

Khorfakkan is a modern, industrial city on the east coast that serves as the main settlement. As this emirate is separated from the rest of the United Arab Emirates by the jagged Hajar Mountains, there is not much to do in Dubai itself. However, you can enjoy some of the best beaches in the United Arab Emirates in Khorfakkan Emirates, to the north. Scuba diving, swimming, and sunbathing are ideal activities on this stunning stretch of coastline.

When not enjoying the sand, Khorfakkan is a good base from which to explore the Hajar Mountains and a series of small forts and historical buildings, such as the Al-Bidyah Mosque. Find out places to visit in Khorfakkan from our list of the top attractions.

Divers Down Fujairah

I must say that Divers Down is the best diving company in Fujairah. They are so professional, friendly, and provide the most amazing diving experience. Since 2008, I have been suffering from a life-threatening medical condition. Divers Down was recommended to me to complete the refresher course and the enriched air course.

First time diving with my condition, I was too nervous. By their professionalism, smile, knowledge, and support, Diver Down made me feel at ease and comfortable. Many thanks to Mikaela, Sameer, Mark and all of the Divers Down staff. You have given me back my confidence in diving, especially given my condition. The experience truly changed my life.

Al Rabi Hiking Trail

Al Rabi Hiking Trail

This was my first hike in the UAE, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Three of my friends were also hiking over the weekend, and they had a breeze. The novice that I am was unable to reach the summit, but the view from the top was worth the effort.

The trail is clearly marked and well laid out. All of the people we encountered were friendly and amazing. We observed children and adults in various stages of ascending or descending the trail. Even hiking with a mask was not a problem. On a January weekend, the weather was perfect even at 3-4 pm.

Don’t forget to bring a small bottle of water with you and take a bathroom break before you arrive. The rest stop and the trail do not have bathrooms.

On reaching the top, you will be taken aback by the view of the town, the industrial port, and the hills around you.

It took us about 1.5 hours to climb 1800 meters and about an hour to descend. This is a must-do experience.

Snoopy Island

Snoopy Island

Without a doubt, if you’re looking for places to visit in Khor Fakkan, you need to check Snoopy Island, I stayed about half a mile away at Rotana, walked the beach, and went in as close as possible

The swim to the island takes approximately ten to fifteen minutes. Second time, I drove directly to the sandy beach hotel and parked right in front of it. It is easy to swim out of the water. There are ropes on either side of the hotel in order to prevent boats from approaching too closely. These can be used to rest and to keep safe from boats.

The first swim took place at low tide. No turtles were visible, but there were plenty of fish and coral. Second swim on high tide in the morning

At high tide, I observed four turtles grazing the sea grass on the south  side of the island. Keep a safe distance. Do not disturb.

It would have been useful to scuba dive there, as all I saw was close to the surface.

Al Badiyah Mosque

Al Badiyah Mosque

With a backdrop of a small hill fort, this mosque is said to have been built more than 500 years ago or so by the followers of the holy prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). It is the most ancient mosque in the United Arab Emirates.

This is a very small mosque with only one central pillar, and it has space for about 10 people to pray. We liked it because it represents the ancient need for a place for the Bedouins to pray, and resonates with a spirituality that modern mosques lack.

It was an absolute delight, both for the mosque and for the Emirate of Fujairah.

Our most memorable day of our visit occurred on this day, as we visited all five emirates on that day, in the company of a special Emirati who took great pride in showing us  the real beauty of the UAE.

Adventure Sports

As a family we spent the week at the Rotana Al Aqah. With 3 teen boys we needed some adventure and fun. Adventure sports and their team were more than accommodating. We did 3 donut rides and our captain kept us entertained with thrills and spills galore.

Will definitely recommend this team to anyone wanting some fun as one of my things to do in Khorfakkan list. We also did fly fishing and parasailing. While not cheap, well worth the experience.

Couple visited for a massage. A friendly welcome to you. There was a large massage room with its own changing area. It was a pleasure to work with the therapists and to enjoy the massages. We will certainly return

It was a pleasant experience for the couple. The private room with a steam room and a jacuzzi was excellent. The massages and products were perfect.

It would be recommended to any couple staying at the hotel

Wadi Wurayah

The opportunity to visit this area was extremely fortunate for us. It was one of the best khorfakkan tourist attractions while Working with the Emirates Wildlife Society, we were able to access the site for three days and provided scientific support and  assistance. This is one of those places on this planet where seeing it rather than reading about it is extremely important.

In addition to the scale and beauty of the park, you can find wildlife there if you are prepared to spend time  looking for it. As a result of working with two scientists, we were able to point us in the right direction and whose knowledge of the  area is second to none.

There has been a substantial amount of graffiti on the site, which I do not comprehend, and the plan is to clean up the area once this has been accomplished and then control it once this has been achieved, and this approach deserves commendation.

Please respect the environment and visit the site in the future if you have the chance. It  is an attractive sight that should not be missed.

Zen the Spa at Rotana

Zen the Spa at Rotana

On our weekend break from work I wanted a pampering spa treatment and found just that at the Rotana. Unfortunately our hotel was in the main city and had to drive for around 30 mins to reach the spa. But once there it was just complete relaxation. They have a spacious lobby and a large relaxation area + wet and dry heat areas.

Even though the Spa has separate male and female sections the wet and dry heat areas are common. We had booked a couple treatment and were escorted to the couples suite which was large and spacious with a jacuzzi included. Overall the quality of treatment and the experience was well worth the drive and the price. Would definitely recommend to all

Al Rabi tower gives you a great view of Khor Fakkan on one side, and the Gulf of Oman on the other. See the whole area from a distance with rugged mountains and curved beaches. Adventure & nature fans of all ages love this trail because it’s rated beginner. It’s one of a few hiking trails close to Fujairah in the city of Khor Fakkan.
